First beautiful spring day at the beach March 27, 2010

So, we are at the ONE week point. One week down. This week has gone amazingly fast. Today was probably (other than saying goodbye) the hardest day so far. We had a great afternoon at the beach, and Brian would’ve really enjoyed it too. Saying it was the “hardest” day isn’t really the right words either … I just missed him more today. We had a good talk on the phone around noon. He said the food is really good, and his room is not bad either, no complaints … just ready to do what he’s there for. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful too, so we’ll have to get some more outdoor time in.

Ok … off to bed. The beach wore me out too!!

And so the journey begins … March 23, 2010

And so it begins … Brian is deployed. He called this morning and let me know that he has made it to his destination. I’m so proud of him, off to do what he’s been trained to do. He works so hard, as a husband, father, and service member … and does all of them so well. Although I miss him like crazy already, he’s where he’s supposed to be right now.

So the kids and I go about our daily routine, looking forward to him returning, but still enjoying our time. Monday is our busy day. Tyler has track practice after school (which he has every day after school), and the girls have gymnastics (Emma) and tumbling (Sophie). It’s real fun to watch, and there are some neat mom’s there watching their kids. We got home this evening and I had made some lentil soup in the crockpot. Tyler was a real champ and ate his bowlfull. Emma took one little bite and spit the other one out. Sophie took her 4 bites because she’s 4, and then ate a banana. It wasn’t great … it wasn’t even good. I’ll have to find a new recipe. Regardless, Brian will probably be glad he’s deployed tonight, because Tyler and I will probably be pretty windy …

Ok, better get to my homework!! Till next time …

Zoo day at school March 20, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — theluces @ 3:50 pm

We had a trip to the zoo on Thursday for the girls school. It was a bit chilly, but a nice morning for it. They had a great time and their friend, Brynn and her mom and brother met us there … so even better.

I found out this week, much to my suprise, that Emma knows her Pledge of Allegiance. I tried to upload the video, but it wouldn’t work for some reason that I couldn’t figure out. I am so proud of her! Her teacher, Mrs. Higgins, said they say it every day, and that Emma says it sometimes … well she knows the whole thing!! Sophie has been saying it for awhile, and feels the need to argue that it’s not “to which it stands” but “widgetstand” … I’m sure only one of MANY arguments to come.

Ok … I better get ready for my day. Brian leaves later, so he’s having some one on one time with each of the kids today (the girls have gymnastics this morning, one after the other, and we are all meeting for lunch, and then him and Tyler are going to go paintballing … we had our date night last night). The girls were VERY excited to be having their own “dates” with Dad today.

Have a great weekend, we love you all!!

Tyler’s a teenager …. where did the time go?! March 12, 2010

Tyler wanted to go out for hibachi ... his friend Spencer came along.

He wanted an Osprey cake … and Dad delivered!!

So … it’s March and Tyler is officially a teenager. Where has the time gone? He was just my little teeny tiny baby with an old man face and now he’s almost as tall as me!! He’s on the track team at Max Bruner Middle School, a distance runner and yesterday ran his mile in 6:27 … speedy Gonzales!! Running with our dog, Irene has been helping improve his time, I think.

It was a fabulous birthday for him. He’s been saving and with birthday money he had enough to buy himself an XBox 360 and an extra controller and game. We’re pretty proud of how he’s been doing his chores and saving his money. A car is next I guess …

He also got a pair of Vans Off the Wall’s, which all the cool kids are wearing, I guess … ha!! He’s been having Air Soft wars with his neighborhood friends, so he got a rifle and is having a blast with that too.

Well … better get back to my homework, now that the blog is updated. Brian will be deploying soon, so we are just getting in the last bit of quality family time before that happens. It’s been in the 60s so hopefully this next week we’ll have some real sunny days and get in a little beach time!! YAY FLORIDA!!!

Lots of love to you all!!
Till next time ….
